Bridal Sign Up

Dana Rabkin & Aaron Bankhurst

 October 29, 2016 | Ceremony & Reception: L’Auberge Del Mar

Dana and Aaron shared a sweet moment at L’Auberge Del Mar. The couple made sure to put a large focus on food, and served an array of irresistible options, including tacos, crab legs and doughnuts.

“Our Chuppah was overflowing with greenery and dark and bright florals,” notes Dana. “It was the perfect setting against the ocean backdrop.”

“For our reception, we wanted a majestic feel and opted for different settings across the tables—all dark florals against garlands and moss down long farm tables,” says the bride.

THE COUPLE Cleveland residents Dana Rabkin and Aaron Bankhurst may be die-hard Buckeyes fans—they met through mutual friends at The Ohio State University, after all—but it was a road trip along the California coast that sealed the deal on this spirited union. After visiting L’Auberge Del Mar in San Diego, the pair headed to Santa Barbara, where Aaron proposed. “We ran around our hotel room in bathrobes, drinking wine and calling family,” recalls Dana.

THE PARTY “Once we decided to get married in California, we knew we wanted it to be at L’Auberge Del Mar,” notes Dana. “The lobby is the most beautiful gathering place, with doors that open to a view of the ocean.” A festive celebration commenced the weekend before Halloween, where 160 guests gathered for a fete outfitted in stunning greenery and florals. While the decor dazzled, it was the indulgent food stations—sliders and french fries, tacos, mac and cheese, and a tower of crab legs—and a vintage candy and doughnut dessert station that truly charmed. The groom, an avid guitar player, brought the evening to a rocking finish with his new wife dancing to his upbeat tunes as they both joined the band on stage.

THE HONEYMOON It was viva la Mexico for the newlyweds—who had a live mariachi band during their opening cocktail hour—at Las Ventanas in Cabo. “It was guac, sun and tequila galore!” beams the bride. Olé!
