A red-hued crowd showed love to the American Heart Association at a Valentine’s Day weekend ball.
THE PARTY More than 600 patrons attended the American Heart Association’s annual Heart Ball, this year chaired by Texas Medical Center President and CEO Robert Robbins. The magical French-inspired soiree raised funds to support the organization’s mission of fighting heart disease and stroke, and the night honored Debbie and Jack Moore, along with the Memorial Hermann Health System. Mayor Sylvester Turner was in the crowd, as were Cathy and Joe Cleary, who will serve as next year’s chairs. THE SCENE Event design firm Darryl & Co. transformed the Hilton Americas ballroom into an enchanted secret garden draped in ivy trimmings and dotted with extravagant floral centerpieces. And thanks to J & D Entertainment, black-tie attendees had the chance to interact with vibrantly dressed aerialists and performers disguised as living trees. THE HIGHLIGHTS The auction featured tickets to Aspen’s Food and Wine Classic and an exclusive MTV Movie Awards experience. Jeweler Marc Pharo won a new BMW 530i in the night’s raffle, and AmRisc, a commercial property underwriting agency, announced a surprise $150,000 donation. In total, more than $2.2 million was raised. Now that’s a lot of love! -Lawrence knox
