Andrea D'allesandro & Julio Peralta

August 2, 2015 | Ceremony & Reception: The Biltmore

Andrea wore a gown by Sottero & Midgley, and Julio wore his traditional military uniform.

Decor by Evoga Event Productions featured purple and gold details, and white aromatic candles from Soy Delicious.

Florana Flowers and Passion Growers created towering centerpieces with a combination of white and purple flowers mixed with greenery atop glamorous clear vases.

Eddy Martinez, co-owner of Stationery Bliss, designed intricate laser-cut invitations in the purple theme.

Sugar Loaf Brigaderia, Lori’s Cupcake Cottage, Catalina’s Bake Shop and You Can Call Me Sweetie all provided mini desserts for the occasion.

It was New Year’s Eve 2001, when Andrea, an advertising executive, met Julio, a career military man. Eighteen months later, on River Street in Savannah, Ga., they were engaged. As Julio was about to be deployed, there was no time to plan Andrea’s fairy-tale wedding, so the two rushed through a ceremony, and Julio spent 32 months in Iraq and Afghanistan. The toughest battle began in 2011 with Andrea’s cancer diagnosis. In an attempt to lift their spirits, Andrea wrote to Wish Upon a Wedding, a charity that grants weddings and vow renewals for couples facing serious illness. The couple was elated when their wish was granted.

The couple dreamed of a ceremony in Miami surrounded by their closest family and friends, including their two children. Local wedding industry expert and stationery company co-owner Eddy Martinez coordinated the details with a superstar roster of Miami vendors who donated their services for the occasion. To satisfy the couple’s sweet tooth, a confections table featured edible delights from Sugar Loaf Brigaderia, Lori’s Cupcake Cottage, Catalina’s Bake Shop and You Can Call Me Sweetie. Purple hues incorporated throughout the flowers and decor made the couple feel like royalty.

“Our bond is forever,” says Andrea. “For better or worse, in sickness and in health, we know what love is.”

The bride and groom spent several nights at The Biltmore in Coral Gables and then visited family and friends in Virginia.
